A little bit about me…
My name is Michael Van Eps and my career started at Industrial Light and Magic in 1990. It was, and still is, the greatest visual effects company in the industry (of course, I am a little bit biased). At Industrial Light and Magic, I started from the bottom and worked my way into an artist position. I received my very first screen credit in 1996 on a movie called Daylight - What an amazing moment that was. Since then, I have earned 70 more film credits (see my IMDB profile). During my career, I have had the honor to learn from the best in the industry. I have learned how to solve complex problems, how to work with clients, and the importance of paying attention to small details. I am grateful for these experiences, and I bring these skills into my work in illustration and graphic design.
Several years ago, I went on a journey to expand my creative output beyond visual effects. I took classes in graphic design, and explored photography and drawing. That led me to discover my passion and drive for this type of art, which resulted in a new sense of creative freedom that brought me immense joy. I like to dream big and create all of my own work. You will never find any clipart in my designs. I have built up a network of artists and mentors that have helped me a great deal. When I work on a project, I give it my 100% and always strive to exceed expectations.
Art is just one of my loves. I am a nature lover at heart. I believe this spark was ignited when I was growing up in Tennessee, where I spent a lot of time outdoors as a child. I find that being amongst the trees and breathing the fresh clean air is one of my happy places. It feeds my soul. I love to hike, mountain bike, backpack, camp, trail run, and sometimes just sit in nature and enjoy the energy. Occasionally, I bring my camera and dabble in nature photography. I also like to cook, meditate, crossfit, and spend time with my family. Life is a wonderful journey.
If reading about me or looking at my art work has touched you, please reach out and say hello.
Thanks,
Michael Van Eps
